Reflection on the Four Immeasurables
Compassion
Kindness
Joy
Equanimity
I invite you to pause, sitting or lying down, and reflect on the above four states of being. These are from the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. They are a wonderful complement to the study and practice of Kripalu yoga.
Perhaps spend a minute or two on each one by placing one hand on your heart and another on your belly, and asking the following questions:
Who am I when I am imbued with compassion?
Pause and notice
Who am I when I am imbued with kindness?
Pause and notice
Who am I when I am imbued with joy?
Pause and notice
Who am I when I am imbued with equanimity?
Pause and notice
Imagine these qualities radiating out in all directions, to all beings without discrimination or bias. Your visualizations and intentions make a difference both for yourself and for the world.
Explore this practice often.
May we all move in the world with compassion, kindness, joy and equanimity
for ourselves and for all sentient beings.
Many blessings,
Jai Bhagwan
